Chimney Brick & Mortar Project

Not only do we service the typical brick and mortar chimney stacks, we also service all types of metal and heating appliance chimney stacks. This particular chimney stack is for a residential furnace and water heater system. It is pretty apparent that it has seen better days. It is completely missing any form of rain/animal protection and the metal structure is badly rusted.

Determining Repairs

After assessing the damage Capital Chimney recommended a corrective course of action that included a new chimney surround (metal exterior stack) as well as a new flue liner. The exterior chimney stack was dismantled down to the roofline and a new water tight flashing was installed. On top of this flashing a new heavy gauge powder coated metal chimney stack was installed. This chimney surround has a simulated brick pattern to match other masonry or trim on the home (comes in white, tan, or red). This chimney surround gets sealed on the top with a stainless steel chase cover that will resist corrosion for many years to come.

Safety & Longevity

Due to the years of moisture entering the chimney the interior flue components were in poor condition and the furnace connector piping inside the home was actively leaking exhaust gasses. This is a recipe for disaster as the exhaust gasses from modern heating appliances contain large amounts of carbon monoxide that can cause serious health risks. Capital Chimney determined it was best for safety and longevity of the new chimney to reline the flue with all new components. This way we are sure that all exhaust gasses are being directed to the outside atmosphere and not back into the home. To top it off we included a new rain/animal cover as well.
